Free hearing tests offered by high street chain providers, are not as thorough as the tests we perform here at The Elstree Hearing Clinic.
A full hearing assessment is performed and results are available immediately. Our Audiologist will have a look in your ears with a Video-Otoscope and take photos of the inside of your ear. She will explain the results of any tests to you and offer any advice you may need, whether it is advice on your hearing health, hearing aids or any tinnitus that you may be experiencing.
If you’re concerned that your child may have glue ear (a build up of mucus in the middle ear space which can cause hearing loss), we will be able to perform a painless test called Tympanometry which will indicate if the ears are congested or not. This test can be performed on any age group.
If a referral to an Ear Nose and Throat Specialist is required, we can refer you to one of our ENT colleagues, or if you have someone you would specifically like to see, we will be happy to arrange this.

Paying for your tests:
If you would like to pay for your hearing tests through your private health insurance, you will need to obtain a pre-authorisation number from your insurance company before attending the appointment. All you have to do is quote either “The Elstree Hearing Clinic” or “Mrs Natalie Shnieder”, the name of the tests you have been referred for (Pure Tone Audiometry/Tympanometry) and the name of the referring Consultant/GP. If you are self-funding, a hearing test costs £70.
